Independent MPs is the hope
Gloucester Citizen and Glos Echo, 27 February 2025, p. 23
M Spiers’ astute letter of February 20 on our iniquitous voting system echoes the views of huge numbers of disillusioned citizens.
And it’s even worse than depicted in his/her letter, with well under one in five of the registered voters having voted Labour.
Yet under our laughable system of ‘democracy’, this is deemed a ‘landslide’ with a near 200-seat majority.
Elected politicians are our servants, not the other way around; yet the irretrievably corrupt uni-party system of party politics, with its Machiavellian power-games, means that in effect, it doesn’t really matter which party is in Government.
The day of a non party-political parliament packed with genuinely independent MPs really can’t come soon enough.
